How to plan a month of reels for your brand

Most brands post reels when inspiration strikes, then go quiet for two weeks. A simple monthly system fixes that: plan once, shoot in batches, edit with a consistent style and post on a steady rhythm.

Step 1: pick 3–4 content pillars

Pillars are the recurring themes your reels rotate through. For example, a spa might use:

Rotating pillars keeps your feed varied without starting from zero every week.

Step 2: write ideas as hooks

The first one to two seconds decide whether someone keeps watching. Write every idea as its opening line or opening shot, not as a topic:

Aim for more ideas than you need, then keep the strongest.

Step 3: batch shoot

Shoot a month's footage in one or two sessions. Plan a shot list for each reel, capture extra B-roll (hands, textures, details, the space), and film vertically in good light. Batching saves hours compared with filming one reel at a time.

Step 4: edit with a consistent style

A recognisable editing style makes people know it's you before they see your name.

Step 5: schedule and post

Set a rhythm you can keep for months, then stick to it. Write captions that add context rather than repeat the video, and reply to early comments quickly — engagement in the first hour helps a reel travel further.

Step 6: measure what matters

At the end of each month, look at:

Make more of what worked, drop what didn't, and plan the next month.

Frequently asked questions

How many reels should a brand post per month?

Pick a number you can sustain with good quality. A steady weekly rhythm usually beats bursts of daily posting followed by silence.

Do reels need professional equipment?

No. A recent smartphone, good natural light and clear audio are enough for most reels. Planning, hooks and editing matter more than cameras.

Should we reuse reels on other platforms?

Yes. The same vertical videos can usually be adapted for YouTube Shorts, Facebook and TikTok, with captions and covers adjusted for each.
